Task Order 23 (ATC-96 Project), Nonlinear Analysis Research and Development Program for Performance-Based Seismic Engineering. This report outlines a comprehensive, long-range Nonlinear Analysis Research and Development Program. This program identifies needed technical development activities and research to promote and improve the use of nonlinear analysis. Taken as a whole, the program presents a suite of initiatives that, if implemented, would improve nonlinear dynamic analysis capabilities in procedures that are suitable and attractive to practitioners, while maintaining levels of accuracy commensurate with research models.
The immediate focus of the program is on analysis software tools, both commercial and research software, that are currently available or likely to become available for practice in the near future. The program also explores important needs to help establish a roadmap for next-generation analysis capabilities. These may require longer-term research efforts to develop fundamental models with computational methods that take full advantage of emerging cloud-computing technologies.
This task has been completed and produced the NIST GCR 14-917-27 report which may be ordered here in hard (printed) copy format.
