Guidelines for the Design of Horizontal Wood Diaphragms

The ATC-7 report, Guidelines for the Design of Horizontal Wood Diaphragms, was published under a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). (Published 1981, 184 pages)

Guidance is provided for designing roof and floor systems so these can function as horizontal diaphragms in a lateral force resisting system. Analytical procedures, connection details and design examples are included in the Guidelines.
